Meadows in Oil Pastels

I guess when the spell is broken the art comes gushing! LOL. No I don't want to set this one up as anything more than a sketch and a sort of art stretching exercises. Here it is then a 3" x 5" entitled Meadows and a look forward to spring!

Gastown, Night Scene - Revisited...again

The fun of working in Oils and oil Pastels, is that you can go back and work on the painting until you are satisfied with the result. After looking at this one for a while and after having fresh eyes look at it and honestly tell me what they thought. I went back in and did some extra work to define it and correct a few perspective issues. Here is the final.

Gastown, Night Scene - Revisited

OK, so overnight I sent a couple of guys to take the ugly boxes out of the scene and this morning I redid the painting. Seriously, I did not like the boxes there at all. They started off being the steam clock, then they became a newspaper dispenser, and then just boxes. Non of these worked, so they had to go. I like this version much better.

Funny, but with Watercolour you don't have the luxury of editing as you do with other media. I love the freedom!

Charles Reid Online Video

American Artist has a new article/interview with Charles reid on their website here:
http://www.myamericanartist.com/2008/02/charles-reid.html The article, as is customary with American Artist (and for that matter most art magazines), is very superficial, but they do have an abbreviated video of a young Charles painting a nude that is interesting to see. If you have never seen him paint, check it out here:
