A Day On The Lake

 

Come with me on this trip…

The day begins with a distant loon call across the lake. You stretch on the dock and then slip into the canoe. The water is calm, the air is fresh but barely lifts a ripple on the lake. Its going to be a glorious day paddling and  portaging into pristine nature.

The day meanders as you glide on warming waters. You go deeper into the wilderness and except for a few stops along the way for food and rest, you keep going as far away from all the everyday. Escaping into the heart of the domain of loons and eagles and moose.

Finally, its the time of day that you know you need to stop paddling and find a shore where you can pitch your tent and settle down for the night before the light starts failing. You get to land, bring your canoe to shore and look behind you. The light glitters over the warm waters; the air is mellow and your body aches, but what a day it was!
